iTripTrack app for iPhone and iPad

iTripTrack is a GPS tracker for use in hiking, cycling or trips in any kind of vehicle (car, train, plane …). Statistics of speed, altitude, acceleration and distance are generated in real time and are shown in numerical and graphical form. All data can be shown in american units (feet/miles) or international (meters/Km).

It allows pausing, adding pictures at selected sites and continue previously recorded or imported routes. It supports import and export to files in standard format (GPX or KML) that can be sent by e-mail to visualize the routes in GoogleEarth. A proprietary format (TTM) can also be used to share the routes between iPhones keeping the information about the owner as well as other relevant information. It is also possible to send an image of the path by e-mail.

The application keeps track of the routes taken, allowing to consult at any time the details of each one of them. Every route can have one or more stretches, which can be viewed independently and compared with each other both in graphical and numerical way.

This application also works in background mode (for iPhone3GS and iPhone4). So if you have an iPhone3G (no background tasks), make sure to check the "Keep screen on" option, otherwise the route wont be recorded. Also remember that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
